Granny Stitch Baby Beanie by Cherry and Crochet Designs

This baby hat is sized for newborns and can be created in under an hour. Using granny stitch in pink, white and purple stripes, this adorable baby beanie is an ideal gift for a newborn baby and is very easy to create. It requires only a small amount of yarn, meaning you can use up scraps and create a beautiful present. It would also make an ideal project to make and sell, which is allowed as long as you give clear credit to my pattern and Cherry and Crochet Designs.

You will need
Yarn needle
4.5 MM Crochet hook
Stylecraft special DK in Fondant, Plum and Lemon

Difficulty- Easy-intermediate
Size- To fit newborn

Pattern
With Lemon chain 3,
Round 1) 15 double crochet in 3rd chain from hook, slip stitch to first stitch.
Round 2) Chain 2, 3 double crochet in same stitch as chain 3, “skip stitch, 3 double crochet in next stitch”, repeat from “to” for a total of 7 clusters, slip stitch to first stitch.
Round 3) Chain 2, “3 double crochet in next gap between clusters, chain 1, 3 double crochet in same gap,” repeat around, slip stitch to first stitch.
Round 4) Chain 2, 3 double crochet in each gap, slip stitch to first stitch. Change to Fondant in last stitch

Round 5) Chain 2, 3 double crochet in each gap, slip stitch to first stitch. Change to Lemon in last stitch
Round 6) Chain 2, 3 double crochet in each gap, slip stitch to first stitch. Change to Plum in last stitch
Round 7) Chain 2, 3 double crochet in each gap, slip stitch to first stitch. Change to Lemon in last stitch
Round 8-10) Repeat rounds 4-5. Fasten off and weave in ends.

They use a small amount of yarn each and the set can be finished in an hour.

You will need 
4 MM Crochet hook
Stylecraft Special DK in White
Yarn Needle
Stitch Marker
Scissors

Pattern

Crop Top

Piece 1
Chain 12
R1) Single crochet in second chain from hook, single crochet in each stitch
R2-7) Chain 1, single crochet in each stitch R8) Chain 1, slip stitch in 2 stitches, chain 9. Fasten off

Piece 2
Chain 12
R1) Single crochet in second chain from hook, single crochet in each stitch
R2-6) Chain 1, single crochet in each stitch
R7) Chain 1, slip stitch in 10 stitches, chain 9, don’t fasten off, continue onto assembly. Assembly
Join the chain 9 from piece 2 to piece 1 with a slip stitch, repeat for piece 1 to 2. Chain 5 and slip stitch to attach underneath the armpit, repeat for both sides. Weave in ends

Panties
Chain 15 R1) Single crochet in second chain from hook, single crochet in each stitch to end
R2) Chain 1, single crochet in each stitch
R3-7) Chain 1, single crochet 2 together in first stitch, single crochet in each stitch, single crochet 2 together in last stitch
R8-12) Chain 1, single crochet in each stitch
R13-17) Chain 1, 2 single crochet in first stitch, single crochet in each stitch, 2 single crochet in last stitch
R18) Chain 1, single crochet in each stitch
R19) Chain 1, single crochet in each stitch, fold the piece in half and single crochet around so the edges are joined up, slip stitch in first stitch. Fasten off and weave in ends.

Difficulty- Easy-intermediate
Size- To fit toddler

Pattern
Popcorn- 4 double crochet in stitch, remove hook, insert hook into 1st double crochet, place free loop on hook and pull through double crochet.

Hat
With Magenta chain 2,
Round 1) 8 single crochet in 2nd chain from hook, slip stitch to first stitch.
Round 2) Chain 2, popcorn in first double crochet, “chain 3, popcorn in next double crochet” 7 times, chain 3, slip stitch to first stitch.
Round 3) Chain 2, “popcorn, chain 1, popcorn” in each chain 3 space, chain 3, slip stitch to first stitch.
Round 4) Chain 2, “popcorn, chain 1, popcorn, in chain 3 space, popcorn in next chain 3 space” around, chain 3, slip stitch to first stitch.

Round 5-10) Chain 2, popcorn in each chain 3 space, chain 3, slip stitch to first stitch. Fasten off and weave in ends.

This doll is a quick and easy doll that is perfect for beginners or as a gift. It can be made in under an hour, and the full terms are used, no abbreviations. This doll is a great first project, to practise key skills such as colour changing, single crochet, double crochet and whipstitch, or sewing. Once created, it makes a delightful gift, and there will soon be modifications for this doll such as clothes and accessories.

You will need
Small amount of fiberfill
Black sewing thread
Yarn needle
4 MM Crochet hook
Stylecraft Special DK in Lemon- A, Cloud Blue -B, Black-C, Walnut-D,

Difficulty- Easy
Size- 20cm x 7cm

Pattern
With A, chain 22
Row 1) Single crochet in 2nd chain from hook, single crochet in each chain
Row 2-3) Chain 1, single crochet in each stitch, change to B in the last stitch
Row 4-20) Chain 1, single crochet in each stitch
Row 21) Chain 1, carrying C, single crochet in the first 5 stitches, then with C, 4 double crochet in the next stitch, change back to B, single crochet in each stitch to end
Row 22) Chain 1, single crochet in each stitch, (when you get to the 4 double crochet, chain 1 and single crochet into the next stitch)
Row 23) Chain 1, carrying C, single crochet in the first 5 stitches, then with c, 4 double crochet in the next stitch, change back to B, single crochet in each stitch to end
Row 24) Chain 1, single crochet in each stitch, change to A in last stitch

To assemble;

Back Legs (Make 2)
With Bright Green, chain 4
Row 1) Slip stitch in 2nd chain from hook, slip stitch in 2 stitches, “chain 4, slip stitch in 2nd chain from hook, slip stitch in 2 stitches. Slip stitch to 3rd slip stitch of first ‘finger’ “ then repeat from “to”. Fasten off and sew onto hat as shown in picture using tail. Weave in ends.

Front Legs (Make 2)
With Bright Green, chain 9
Row 1) Slip stitch in 2nd chain from hook, slip stitch in 2 stitches, “chain 4, slip stitch in 2nd chain from hook, slip stitch in 2 stitches. Slip stitch to 3rd slip stitch of first ‘finger’ “ then repeat from “to”. Slip stitch in remaining 4 chains from first ‘finger’. Fasten off and sew onto hat as shown in picture using tail. Weave in ends.


Eyes (Make 2)
With Bright Green, chain 3
Round 1) 12 double crochet in 3rd chain from hook, slip stitch to first stitch
Round 2) Chain 1, 2 single crochet in each stitch, slip stitch to first stitch. Fasten off and continue with the eyes.

With White, chain 3
Round 1) 12 double crochet in 3rd chain from hook, slip stitch to first stitch. Fasten off and continue with the eyes.

With Black, chain 2
Round 1) 6 single crochet in 2nd chain from hook. Fasten off, leaving a long tail.

Assembly of eye
Place the pieces on top of each other, then sew them together using only the black tail. Sew the eye onto the hat using the black tail. Weave in ends.

Mouth
With Fiesta, chain 2,
Round 1) single crochet, 2 half double crochet, 2 single crochet, 2 half double crochet, single crochet, slip stitch to first stitch. Fasten off and sew onto hat using tail. Weave in ends.
